APPARENT LIFE-THREATENING EVENT [ALTE]

Image
Written by: Queen Maadiah Johnson.    Instagram: @maadie.anie “To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong.” — Joseph Chilton Pearce       I believe one of life's most universal truths is that we are born into a form of slavery. From birth, we are tethered to the family we are born into, a circumstance over which we have no control. This foundational environment largely shapes our upbringing, values, and initial worldview. i.e Aunty Chioma and Brother Bernard's views and conversations can affect our perception of the world. It's a start that we neither choose nor can easily alter in our early years. This initial 'slavery' extends further as we progress through life. Education is another institution where choice is minimal. We are sent to schools where curricula, norms, and methodologies are predefined, shaping our intellectual growth and societal integration. The education system imposed upon us (by government), is the standards o...

ECHOES OF UNREQUITED LOVE

Image
Written by: Mfoniso Usen.  I t’s been three minutes since I sent the text, and he still hasn’t replied. I heard my phone beep. Hurriedly I checked, smiling, thinking it was him. My heart sank and I dropped my phone in disappointment when I realized it was just a message from my network provider.   I went through our chats. They keep me alive. His messages make my cheeks flush with happiness, and I can’t help but smile and blush whenever I am on the phone. When he’s too busy and unavailable, I check them to reassure myself and to feel close to him.  I especially love reading them in his voice.  I checked the last chat.  I sent that immediately I woke up.  Oh, to have someone you dream about at night and daydream about in the morning. It’s almost midnight and I’m fighting the urge to message him. I try to ignore the fact that he replies faster to sexual messages. I know he is fine and not busy with work. My heart sanked to my stomach, my throat ...

THE FEELING OF SONDER

Today, 7 billion people experienced this day differently. In the quiet corners of homes and bustling city streets, stories played out with a myriad of emotions. Some welcomed a child, some mourns the loss. Some are happy, some are sad. Some gave birth, some miscarried. Some got demoted, some got promoted. Some got a new job, some were laid off. DANGERS OF TEENAGE/IMMATURE RELATIONSHIP

Image
A 16 year old SS3 student committed suicide because she broke up with ''the love of her life'' apparently. For a boy that is really not worth it. I decided to write an article to this concern to at least educate and create awareness in the best possible way I can. I want to talk about an issue that distracts most teenagers in the world if not all; dating.Yes I know. I haven't dated anyone because I'm young (I'm 16) but I have had crushes. Most of my classmates, cousins, friends or random teenagers on the net get distracted because of their '' feelings'' which often leaves them with much disappointment and sadness. You're sixteen, being called sexy or babe shouldn't make you blush or flutter at all. You should have some self respect 13 - 19, that's 6 years . What you really do with this 6 years is what guarantees your overall wellbeing when you are older like 50 upwards. You drink alcohol now or smoke( excessively) or involve yourse...
